Winemaker’s Dinner
with Liz Heidenreich
From Sevenhill Cellars,
Clare Valley, Australia
Sevenhill Cellars in the beautiful Clare Valley was established in 1851
by Jesuit Monks and is the oldest winery in the area.
It is still a Monastery and Brother John May is the 7th brother Winemaker,
and still keeps his hand in, but it’s Liz who now fashions the wines.
Using the latest technical advances, employing current thinking and combining those with a wealth of experience and some very old vines adds up to some belting wines!
Currently working at Sir Cliff’s Vida Nova winery in Portugal
she will only be in the country for a week, so don’t miss her.

Australia Day
Gapsted Dinner
7.00 pm Start
Forget the past and raise a glass to our colonial convicts’ country
wishing them well for The Ashes 2009!!!
If only the Mother Country could produce wines as good as those on offer here,
that would wipe some smiles off.
Oh well, raise a glass to global warming and maybe,
just maybe, in 20 years it could become a reality….
Every test is a home test as pitches are unplayable in Australia,
so is Monty Panesar, now in his forties,
taking advantage of the gaping cracks in the Headingley wicket
in blistering temperatures in the high 30’s and looking for his 900th test wicket!!!
The event will be hosted by Martin, Ed and more importantly Richard Howden
the Export Manager of Gapstead Winery
situated in the beautiful Alpine Valley in Victoria.
Most of the fruit for these wines is from the King and Alpine valleys,
which is reflected in the quality and style of the wines.
They are proudly Australian, i.e. fully ripe and fruit forward,
yet have an elegance and structure more akin to Europe.
We will explain more on the night.
Ed is generously sponsoring the event as are The Wine Bureau.
